Sinnemahoning Stakeholders Watershed Grant Program

The Sinnemahoning Stakeholders Committee (SSC) was formed by a Memo of Understanding between the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and Headwaters RC&D. The SSC is responsible for the management and distribution of funds derived from a civil settlement between the DEP and the Norfolk Southern Railway as a result of a sodium hydroxide spill in 2006 in McKean County. Grant funding is offered through HRC&D on an annual basis.

This program offers funding for eligible water quality, environmental improvement and conservation projects for the affected watershed area. The types of projects funded include fish habitat enhancement, invasive species management, environmental education, AMD assessment, stream bank utilization and illegal dump cleanup. All projects must be located within the Sinnemahoning Watershed.

The Round 4 2012 Applications for the Sinnemahoning Watershed Grant Program are now closed. Funding decisions will be communicated after January 24, 2012. For further information please contact Todd Deluccia, Cameron County Watershed Specialist at 814-486-9354 or email at cameron.water@yahoo.com.
